An experiment

An experiment along the same lines as this previous image, except more so. The shot I came away with of this pond with grasses looked nothing like what I had envisioned, so I desaturated the whole thing and brushed in the lines I wanted to emphasize. In the end, the grasses stand out, as I had intended. But this looks nothing like what the camera picked up.

A close look

I'm starting to really like macro work. I think it was Mike Johnston who said that "macro photographers are among the only happy photo enthusiasts". Maybe that's true. Photographing the Very Small certainly is absorbing.

Up close

Since the mist was so heavy over the farm that morning, all the greenery was blanketed in dew. Think: macro lens.

Obscured

Well, it's decidedly fall in the Pacific Northwest. We get our produce in the summer and fall from a Community Supported Agriculture operation near Carnation, WA, and I brought my camera along the last time we went out there. This is morning mist lingering over one of the fields.

Red metal

I've been taking pictures for long enough that some of my subjects are becoming staples. Maybe I should do some kind of study of them specifically. Serious-looking metal contraptions painted in forbidding colors like rust red get me every time.
