A collection of basses, Guanajuato, Mexico

Waiting

In central Guanajuato there's a park with a bandstand, and this seems to be the main venue for aimless-wandering-around, sitting-and-drinking, people-watching, and eating-ice-cream-while-walking. Since there's a lot of foot traffic in the evenings, there are a lot of meandering mariachi musicians politely asking if they can serenade you at top volume for a few bucks.

The buskers, though, have to put down their instruments and sit on their hands when there's a band in the bandstand. That's what was going on when I got this shot; the basses from a number of different mariachi outfits were being given a rest while the musicians waited for the band to finish.
