From the hip

I spent an evening in Siena working on my shot-from-the-hip night street photography skills. I was aiming for something like the look of Pulpo's street imagery; slow-shutter black-and-white in a slightly impressionistic style.

I don't think I exactly knocked it out of the park, but I came up with a few frames that seemed reasonable. This is one of them. I used a tight aperture to get the starbursts around lamps and other light sources, as well as for deep DOF.
