Dawn over the Charles Bridge, Prague

The famous bridge

I found myself in Prague without a tripod, since I hadn't been able to convince myself to drag along either my full-size Bogen tripod or my lightweight-but-crummy Slik tripod. I was able to get this shot hand-held, but processing it turned out to be tricky. I wound up producing two different images from the original RAW file, running them through Photoshop's Merge-to-High-Dynamic-Range process, and then converting back down to 16 bits (8 for the web). Also, to get a hand-holdable speed, I had to crank up the ISO so the resulting image is grainy. I don't mind grainy black and white images at all, but I always think it looks a little funny on color images. I think it's because I never shot any high-speed color film back in my analog days.
