Rail Coupling

Rail car coupling, Harbor Island, Seattle

Holding it together

I like big, mechanical objects. I like my tripod because it's a solid, metal artifact, and I like my ballhead because it's got an over-size squeeze-trigger on it and stays just where I put it when I let go. I like my battery grip because it makes my camera more substantial. I like my 80-200mm zoom because it's heavy, and the action on the zoom ring feels like it means business.

That's why I like the coupling between two rail cars. Just look at this thing! A very serious piece of machinery.
