Graffiti Door

A door on Capitol Hill, Seattle

Art?

Well, it's obviously not art in any conventional sense, and I doubt the owners of this building are too amused by the spraypaint. Nonetheless, I find myself drawn to graffiti. I think part of it is that the letterforms of the roman alphabet aren't very exciting (unlike, say, Asian glyphs, which can be art in their own right). Graffiti, though, bends and distorts letterforms into something interesting to look at.

I took this shot on a bright sunny day and the white paint against the deep black behind this doorway was too much to ignore.
