Door Handle in Blue

A door handle on Capitol Hill, Seattle

Color and form

I don't think this image would work without the color, although the strong lines are what got my attention first. I think I'm still in a fairly early stage of photography: my default treatment is always to exaggerate whatever I think the salient aspect of the picture is. Here, the image is all about overpowering blue.

I admire pictures like this recent chromasia posting for being compositionally powerful without hitting you over the head with contrast. Until I can develop a nuanced approach, high-contrast images are what I have to offer.
