A waiting refrigeration trailer, Harbor Island, Seattle

More promotional immodesty

Here's what I assume to be a refrigeration trailer waiting for a truck cab at a loading dock on Harbor Island. Walking by this thing, I was struck by the strong geometry in the refrigeration gear, and here's the result.

I remember reading somewhere that some shipping containers require power (like this one) for things like climate control, but many don't. A lot of logistics go into loading a cargo ship, and one of the details is how many containers require power. Apparently, only certain areas of the cargo hold can provide power to containers, and the ship can only generate so much electricity, so that must be taken into account when planning how to distribute containers, and which containers will be carried on which ships.

Simple shot, but it was geometry you were after. Thanks for the background info too. You didn't get in trouble for wandering around private property? There are signs all over the quays here in Cork warning people off..

Luckily enough, all the Harbor Island images I took were visible from a public street. I'm pretty conscientious about staying on the right side of the law; before we headed to Harbor Island, I checked that there were public rights-of-way we could shoot from so we wouldn't be trespassing.
