A ridge at Stevens Pass, outside Seattle

An idyllic day

Here's a snow-and-trees landscape shot; I'll only burden you with one from my snowboading outing, as they all look pretty much alike. I wanted to convey the sense, though, of why I'm so keen on getting up into the mountains in the winter: if you manage to get away from the buzz of other people at the ski areas, the thick snow in the mountains makes everything perfectly still, and just being outside in the mountain air is enough to send you home bright-eyed and happy.

Not to mention hurtling down the side of a mountain at 30mph under a clear blue sky! That will put a smile on anyone's face, I say.
