Snow Fence

A collapsed snow fence at Stevens Pass, outside Seattle

Can a fence be abstract?

The resort staff were taking down this lightweight fence in the afternoon; I was unwinding after a full day on the upstairs balcony of the lodge, in the sun, and got this shot of the fence from above.

It came out pretty much as the scene looked in person, although the long shadow thrown by the fence was a little more striking at the time.

I see what you're trying to do with this but I don't think it works. I do like the shadow falling over the sand though.
Maybe if there was more contrast between the white snow and dark fence/shadow? As you said, it looked more striking at the time but a bit of burning of the shadows would have helped.

Yes, I should have burned the shadows more originally. I updated the posted image with the shadow burned in a little more; you can compare to the original.

For completeness, the color version is also available.
