Fisheye Truck

A truck cab on Harbor Island, Seattle

Much fishier

Here's another shot taken with my Zenitar fisheye. Obviously, the fishy effect is a lot more pronounced here than in the last image. I left in the distortion instead of "de-fishing" this image because it's a bit of a change from the ordinary.

I was out walking around with my 100mm Macro lens today and my wife remarked that I wasn't using either of my favorite primes (my 35mm and 50mm). This was on purpose: I try to deliberately head out with a single lens and practice "seeing" with it; I find that over time it develops my intuition for which focal length will work best for a given shot. The fisheye, though, is an exception; it has mostly sat in my camera bag since I got it.

On the other hand, it was vastly cheaper than a proper rectilinear ultra-wide, so I'm not complaining much. And I figure its time will come.

Site news: I updated the layout of most of the site pages a few hours ago to add category and monthly-archive links. I'm hoping this will make the site more explorable; let me know what you think.

Good shot. The fisheye distortion is much more evident! :)

Nice shot- I really like your new layout ;)
