Steel hooks in barrels, Harbor Island, Seattle

More hooks

Here is a more wide-angle view of the scene also shown in yesterday's image. The whole pile of chains and hooks was very industrial-looking, as you can see. One thing I particularly like about this image is the sullen but saturated colors.

When I'm out taking pictures on a cloudy day, I have to keep reminding myself that the weather isn't actually bad for photography. Overcast skies produce soft shadows and don't create the stark separations in brightness that can cause headaches on sunny days. Also, colors tend to stay nice and saturated, as they are here.

But to us humans, of course, cloudy days are always more dreary and less enjoyable than sunny ones...

What I hate about dreary days is the light is so bad it's hard to get a sharp photo, but this shot looks great.
Did you have to do much work on it after?

Although I don't exactly shy away from post-processing, this particular image didn't need much work; a curve layer or two to get the tones where I wanted them.

love the colours!

Lovely colors! You are right on about the overcast weather. This shot would look much different with the Sun blasting down on it creating sharp shadows and contrast.
