More heating geometry

This is a different view of the vents that I posted an image of back in 2005. I think these are actually a different set of vents, since they're oriented differently; there's more an one bank of them along the shell of the library on the top floor.

The previous image was very typical for me: head-on, squarely composed, with the image's straight lines parallel to the edges of the frame. This second type of composition, with more obliques, is what I've been trying to train myself to see better.

In this case, I actually think the earlier image is more successful in being a stark, geometric composition. Still, I'm pleased that I at least noticed the oblique composition. I'll keep trying.

Which composition do you think is better?
