Timmy the Madcat, in a moment of repose

Fur, close-up

In the spirit of posting images of the family, here is Yet Another Tedious Cat shot, except hopefully, again, with a redeeming feature. Recall that last time, my excuse for posting a picture of my cat (a gravely suspicious photographic stunt) was to show off the buttery background bokeh from my long zoom lens shot wide open.

Well, I have another gearhead excuse this time around; I took this as a test shot with my new macro lens to check out its sharpness. I used a bounced flash to augment the interior light. I must say, I find this lens to be scary sharp. The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro is highly recommended.

OK, I also admit that I find Timmy the Madcat to be a pleasant, furry subject. He has been a faithful if annoyingly affectionate companion to me over the past several days as I've been nursing a nasty cold. He's also had it a little rough with the new arrival: my wife and I just don't pay attention to him like we used to anymore. Spare a moment of sympathy for the loney Madcat.
