The wheels on the bus go... to rust
I walked past the schoolbus parking lot near my house the other day while I happened to have my new 100mm macro lens mounted, and took this frame of a wheel. I thought the bright rust was striking.
Every time I do it, I'm pleased with my "walk around with a single lens, preferably a prime" exercise. Walking around with my 100mm lens, I looked for macro shots and compressed-perspective shots. I think doing this for a while makes me better at "seeing" those kinds of images in the world around me. Walking around with a wide prime makes me look for completely different images, and again, the practice is very helpful. I'm slowly getting to the point where, if I actually have my lens bag with me, I can look at a scene and think "you know what would best capture this image is..." and then reach for just the right lens.
The world is an endlessly interesting place. Go out and look at it.
