A decorated fire hydrant at the Pike Place Market, Seattle

One last Market image, for now.

Some whimsical Market-attender had decorated this fire hydrant before my arrival. The backlighting doesn't do much for this subject, but I thought this image tied in nicely with yesterday's image of sunflowers.

In the department of thinking-out-loud, I've been daydreaming for the first time lately about owning a "macro" lens; that is, one capable of focusing very close, to take pictures of small things. I have to admit, this is mostly motivated by the impulse to take very detailed photographs of my new baby daughter's eyes.
