Fall color on Pike St, Seattle

Before fall is over completely...

Here is an image of the foliage on Pike St, near where I live. This tree has since shed all these leaves and is now standing barren. That's fine with me, though, as long as snow keeps falling in the mountains.

Having grown up in Montreal, which gets fantastic fall foliage, I am somehow surprised each year when the trees start turning in Seattle. Despite the fact that it never gets particularly cold in the northwest, there is often some quite attractive fall color to enjoy.

I had a lot of trouble getting this image to look the way I wanted. In the end, I softened both the highlights and the shadows to get the soft, painterly look I wanted to convey.
