A fall scene on Capitol Hill, Seattle

Saccharine Seattle?

This image may strike many people as over-done, but it's the best rendition I could produce to convey how the scene appeared to me when I shot it. My wife and I were walking home on Capitol Hill, and the yellow leaves from the big tree in the foreground, littered across the ground and sidewalk, were softly lit by an overcast sky. The whole scene seemed to glow softly, and that's what I'm trying to get across.

I post-processed for the "glow" in Photoshop; I don't own any soft-focus filters or other exposure-time gear for producing this kind of distortion. I hope you like it despite the obvious manipulation.

Update: This image was entered in the Photo Friday Challenge under the theme "Experimental".
