Timmy the Human, reflected

A tangential riff on the animal theme

To close out my brief set of animal images, here is Timmy the Human, for whom Timmy the Madcat is named. I took this image from the back seat of Timmy's car when we were on our way back from a trip to the mountains last winter. The sun was ahead of us, and the high-contrast reflections in the windshield, and the way the rearview mirror multiply-reflected Timmy's face, looked intriguing.

I shot this with a Canon EF 128-135 IS lens, which is "image stabilized", meaning there are a set of little gyros in the lens that compensate for motion so you get less blur from camera shake. I noticed that when I used IS in the moving car, I could hear the lens working hard to compensate for all the little jiggles and bumps the car was transmitting to it. I credit the IS technology for giving me a usably sharp image from inside a moving car!
