An early morning ferry ride
A couple of weeks ago my wife and I went up to Sooke, on Vancouver island, to celebrate our anniversary. To get to the island, we took the ferry at dawn that sails from Anacortes through the San Juan islands. This turned out exactly as we wanted: we waited in the ferry terminal as the sun came up, drinking hot coffee to ward off the cold, and then we lounged around the ferry during the long crossing to the island.
The ferry was quite empty that morning, and I wandered around the ship taking pictures. Here is a view of the car deck; I was struck by the stark industrialness of it.
