Bikes locked up on Capitol Hill (Black and White)

This is an alternate take on the scene shown yesterday.

Two days running of boring parked bicycles will greatly chagrin my lovely wife, who chides me for taking pictures of things like pavement, rocks, dead trees, and the like. Nonetheless, I'm kind of fond of this image, more so than the color one that I posted yesterday for comparison.

Basically, I'm a sucker for even jumbled arrangements of strong geometric shapes, like bicycle wheels, and I particularly like scenes with strong geometry to be rendered in black and white. This probably has something to do with the fact that I shot almost exclusively black and white film as I was originally learning to operate a camera in college. I think the way that black and white film records the world got burned into my head, and now I visualize photographs almost entirely in terms of their basic shapes, even when color is present.
